Samsung tri-fold smartphone rumours are rife after some new animation files discovered in One UI 8 beta suggest the firm is working on its first-ever tri-fold device, reportedly called the Galaxy G Fold. The leak also offers a closer look at the design and form factor, and reveals a G-shaped fold – unlike Huawei’s S-folding devices.
The Samsung tri-fold phone is rumored to be arriving alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Galaxy Z Flip 7 and the Galaxy Watch 8 series at Samsung’s next Galaxy Unpacked event. The animations show a larger physical form factor in contrast to the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and shows a device that can expand and operate on three interlinked display panels through two hinges.
As Indicated by Android Authority and AssembleDebug has shared it, one of the One UI 8 beta files has the inner screen of the Samsung tri-fold smartphone that is larger than what we see when the device is fully unfolded though. The design has a vertical triple camera module placed on one of the outer sides. The main cover display is also expected to be served up by the central panel, offering a hole-punch selfie camera which will supposedly be centred too.

While Huawei went with an S-shaped fold, Samsung appears to be adopting a G-shape, so both the outer panels fold inwards. That’s why there is a cover screen on the outer panel.
There’s also another camera that we could spot, this one on the right panel of the unfurled display. This could be for video calls or selfies with the phone flung wide open. A few of the references to the folding device in the animation files refer to the device as the “Multifold 7” — potentially a working name for the Samsung tri-fold smartphone currently being developed.
Samsung has yet to confirm anything formally, but the appearance of those animations in One UI 8 beta indicates the company’s getting ready to show off this next-gen foldable soon — potentially as a brag in its July 9 Galaxy Unpacked event. Samsung had teased other future launches (such as the Galaxy Ring or Galaxy S25 Edge) so the tri-fold smartphone may end up following the same pre-launch reveal approach.
It’s worth mentioning that at the moment not much is known about the Samsung tri-fold smartphone, but with the leaked assets, we can expect that its release is simply a matter of time. It’s a truly exciting technology, with the G-folding mechanism, huge inner display, multiple camera modules and a whole new design language combining to form the most impressive foldable tech yet.
Now, if a company like Huawei is already experimenting with tri-folding handsets, the possible arrival of the Galaxy G Fold next year could potentially rewrite the top-tier foldable market in 2025. The market is there, and the fans are champing at the bit for an announcement.
