Look for the Redmi Turbo 5 to also launch in early 2026, as that’s about how soon after the January 2025 release date of the Redmi Turbo 4 this phone is expected to arrive. The upcoming Redmi Turbo 5 is said to come with major design and hardware enhancements per leaks by noted tipster Santanu (@TechnicalShaan).
The Redmi Turbo 5 could arrive with a 6.6-inch display with 1.5K resolution as per early leaks. That would be a slightly smaller size than the Turbo 4’s 6.67-inch screen — but here’s hoping it will also remain juiced up with the same eye-popping resolution. The panel is said to come with R-angle corners and a ‘straight’ design, which suggests that the phone may flaunt a slim and sleek profile. The frame could be from metal which feels more premium and wears better.
The highlight upgrade may well be the new MediaTek Dimensity 8500 Ultra SoC – an upgrade over the Dimensity 8400 Ultra in its predecessor. Also, this more capable chipset is likely to produce better performance and efficiency combined with a humongous 7,500mAh battery – up from the Turbo 4’s 6,550mAh. This means heavy users can certainly expect better battery life.
The Redmi Turbo 5 is also expected to be slimmer and lighter, for its loyal base, keen on both a lighter more portable package than its bigger brother.
Notably, it has been rumoured that the Redmi Turbo 5 might be launched globally with Poco branding as the Poco X8 Pro, in keeping with some developments followed by Xiaomi’s product environment. That way, the robust hardware could reach more than just China.
By way of comparison, in China, the Redmi Turbo 4 was sold with:
- A 6.67-inch OLED screen with 1.5K resolution and 120Hz refresh rate
- MediaTek Dimensity 8400-Ultra SoC
- Up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB of UFS 4.0 storage.
- 50MP Sony LYT-600 main camera, 8MP ultrawide, and 20MP selfie snapper
- 6,550mAh battery with 90W wired fast charging
- Corning Gorilla Glass 7i protection
It will carry over a lot of these features while improving on battery life, processing power and over all design. The Turbo 4 debuted at CNY 1,999 (approx. Rs. 24,000), you can likely expect similar (or slightly more) for the Redmi Turbo 5, once we factor in exact specs and retailer region-based pricing.
Anticipation builds with leaks continuing to trickle out. If Redmi Turbo 5 follows in Xiaomi’s footsteps when it comes to its aggressive price-performance strategies, it may well turn out to be one of the best mid-range Android phones of 2026.
