LG has announced its new ultrawide Nano IPS Black monitor, 39.7-inch 5K2K curved display model number 40U990A-W with Thunderbolt 5, designed for professionals who need high color accuracy, dynamic imagery and firm connectivity. The South Korean company launched the ultrawide Nano IPS Black device that will start shipping from August 28.
This premium ultrawide Nano IPS Black monitor features a native resolution of 5,120 × 2,160 pixels, which is well-suited for video editors and creatives. It is curved at 2500R, and provides a 120Hz refresh rate for visual experience and better performance. The monitor features AMD FreeSync Premium and Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) to reduce tearing and stuttering when creating and enjoying fast action video content.
Another strong point of the ultrawide Nano IPS Black monitor is in its HDR support; it offers both HDR10 and VESA DisplayHDR 600. This results in a high contrast and wide color gamut image. LG says the color gamut includes 99% of DCI-P3, making it the perfect source for post-production and accurate color grading.
The ultrawide Nano IPS Black monitor is also a productivity beast. It offers thunderbolt 5 support and 95W power delivery, and includes both input and output ports, which makes it easy to daisy-chain multiple displays. Video editors can pair two of these displays for a huge combined desktop resolution of 10,240 × 2,160 pixels — perfect for seeing source footage and editing at the same time.
Designed to fit into your workflow, the ultrawide Nano IPS Black monitor features dual 10-watt stereo speakers, with a build-in hub seamlessly fitted into the built-in adjustable ergonomic stand. This hub has two HDMI ports, a DisplayPort 2.1, six USB-C 3.2 Gen2×2 ports, an Ethernet (1000Base-T) jack, and a 3.5mm headphone out.
As for the price, the ultrawide Nano IPS Black 40U990A-W monitor carries a price tag of 252,780 yen (~$1,740). While this model itself is Japanese only and up for preorder right now, LG has already launched a Thunderbolt 4 version in those colors elsewhere, like the U.S., where it’s available to buy via Amazon.
