AMD is making the bold claim that when paired with high-end GPUs, Ryzen 9000X3D CPUs can deliver 1000 FPS in some of the most popular eSports titles. AMD says that processors such as the Ryzen 7 9800X3D, Ryzen 9 9950X3D and mobile Ryzen 9 9955HX3D can take frame rates up to 1000 FPS across titles such as CS2, Valorant, League of Legends, PUBG, and Naraka: Bladepoint.
Shooting for 1000 FPS has historically proven to be incredibly niche but with the recommended settings, AMD says these frame rates are achievable. Previously, monster setups were needed to reach these numbers as shown by Der8auer taking an LN2-cooled Core i9 14900K to 1000 FPS in CS2 with an RTX 4090. With Ryzen 9000X3D CPUs making things simpler, extreme FPS is more easily within reach.
The majority of reviews of a Ryzen 9800X3D or 9950X3D with an RTX 5090 or 5080 record figures of approximately 600-700 FPS in independent tests. AMDs marketing points out that if you make all the right optimizations, disabling VBS and enabling AMD Smart Access Memory (SAM), you should hit 1000 FPS in six games classified as major eSports. These tests were conducted at CL30 with 6000 MT/s memory settings and a 1080p resolution.
Curiously, the Radeon RX 9070 XT only hit 1000 FPS in two of the tested games, which is still a good result but we’d need to see it for ourselves. Reaching 1000 FPS has relatively little practical value as consumer monitors are yet to reach 1000 Hz either. As of now, the most rapid gaming monitor on the market is HKC’s 750Hz, which is an eternity from the 1000 FPS barrier.

This means that it is theoretically possible to hit 1000 FPS with the mobile Ryzen 9 9955HX3D, but that’s not very practical with the vast majority of laptops not including displays capable of supporting such incredibly high refresh rates.
Still, even with such limitations, AMD’s Ryzen 9000X3D series is a massive generational improvement to gaming CPU performance, offering enthusiasts an opportunity to push frame rates to levels that would have seemed impossibly high just a few years ago.
Gaming enthusiasts aiming for peak performance should still pair Ryzen 9000X3D CPUs with high-end GPUs, tune memory, and configure Windows 11 settings based on AMD’s guidelines. New Ryzen series tops all extreme gaming benchmarks results, elevating eSports performance to the next level.
