Dino Crisis remake has been requested by fans of CAPCOM’s cult-classic survival horror for many, many years now. Capcom Reports Dino Crisis Remakes Were Attempted Twice Before
Dusk Golem (aka AestheticGamer), a reliable leaker, claims that CAPCOM’s first Dino Crisis remake attempt was in the works at CAPCOM Vancouver before the studio was closed. A second Dino Crisis remake was subsequently being worked on by a different CAPCOM team, but it allegedly wasn’t going very well and was also scrapped. Still, the possibility of a Dino Crisis remake is only partially dead;
CAPCOM registered new Dino Crisis trademarks for Japan and Brazil earlier this year. Notably, this trademark was filed under the same video game category as Resident Evil Requiem. Such trademark activity usually indicates actual future projects, hence the speculation of a Dino Crisis remake potentially being in the works.
The Dino Crisis Series is not dead you dudes: Sure, the Dino Crisis Series has been out of commission for years, but they recently came out of hibernation when the original games were released on GOG. Along with the enhancements to DirectX, V-Sync, gamma, anti-aliasing, 4K support, animated and visual styling, video and music playback, and cloud save support were added to the updated versions. That revival, however, has simply sparked the desire of fans for a bona fide Dino Crisis remake.
As we’ve seen with impressive remakes of other survival horror classics like Resident Evil, many fans remain optimistic that CAPCOM will give Dino Crisis the same treatment. Despite the failure of the Dino Crisis remake attempts before this, these new trademarks strongly suggest the company has not forgotten about the franchise. The prospect of returning to Regina’s dinosaur-filled nightmare, now in a modern format, is as close as it’s ever been for long-time fans.
GOG has both of the first two Dino Crisis games made new again with 4K, anti-aliasing and cloud saves.
