Sony has announced it is ending support for Genshin Impact on PS4. Well, if you’re still playing Genshin Impact on your PlayStation 4, that’s about to radically change. A developer MiHoYo has announced the impending delisting and, ultimately, shutdown of Genshin Impact PS4. This is a pretty big change for fans that are still keeping up with the popular gacha game on Sony’s prior-generation console.
Per a lengthy announcement from MiHoYo, this decision arises due to an ongoing hardware ceilings and platform app size limitations. More of the same, though these technical issues also mean we haven’t been able to update you for a while on how PlayStation 4 maintenance is progressing. Due to this, Genshin Impact PS4 will no longer be supported through three crucial milestones:
- September 10, 2025 -Date the game will be pulled from the PlayStation Store.
- 25 February, 2026 – All content in the in-game store and PS Store will be removed permanently.
- RL – April 8, 2026 — Full shutdown Genhin Impact PS4 Style
This is a tough pill to swallow for those who have been with PS4 from the beginning. The console may be literally defunct in its years, but it is still where many uphold their daily gaming standards and Genshin Impact PS4 has been a mainstay since launching. Genshin Impact is one of the most loved free-to-play RPGs in the world because of its vast open world, high-quality graphics, and frequent updates.
Just dont worry about them if youre on PS5. This change applies only to the PS4 version, its developer has clarified. MiHoYo reassures players:
“Genshin Impact on PS5® will continue to operate normally and is not affected by the removal and update discontinuation on PS4®.
And if you do make the jump to a PS5, just know that support for Genshin Impact on this new tech will include all potential updates, events, and content releases.
