The Google Pixel 10 series, anticipated to replace the Pixel 9 lineup, is rumored to include an innovative GPU created by Imagination Technologies, a UK company.
Reports indicate that the Tensor G5 chipset will incorporate the DXT-48-1536 GPU, which is engineered to provide enhanced ray tracing, support for RISC-V firmware, and dual-rate texturing, all aimed at achieving superior graphical fidelity.
Imagination’s Ray Tracing & Efficiency Upgrades
As reported by Android Authority, screenshots of a modified blog post by postgraduate researcher Yang Yanling suggest that Google is partnering with Imagination Technologies.
The DXT-48-1536 GPU is said to feature a Ray Acceleration Cluster (RAC) for scalable ray tracing and Fragment Shading Rate (FSR) technology to decrease fragment processing while maintaining visual quality. Imagination asserts that there is a 50% improvement in compute and texture performance per Scalable Processing Unit (SPU), which is expected to enhance gaming and rendering experiences for Pixel 10 users.
Tensor G5: TSMC 3nm and Architectural Shifts
The Tensor G5 is said to be shifting from Samsung Foundry to TSMC’s 3nm process, which is expected to provide notable improvements in efficiency and performance.
In addition to the GPU enhancement, leaks point to revamped components such as the always-on compute (AoC) audio processor, the Emerald Hill memory coprocessor, and the EdgeTPU for accelerated AI performance. These updates are intended to establish the Pixel 10 as a strong competitor against Apple and Samsung.
