Google Vids adds AI avatars, image-to-video, automatic transcript trim, and more

Video making is getting smarter and speedier than ever before, and Google Vids is at the helm. Today, Google Vids is announcing an update that it said would bring powerful new AI tools that allow anyone — whether they’re a business team looking to put out professional-grade videos or a YouTube star who wants to raise the production quality of their videos — to make quality videos that make the cut.

Image-to-Video with Veo 3

And of the most interesting new features on Google Vids is the new image-to-video feature, powered by Veo 3. This device transforms your static photos into moving eight-second video snaps with sound. Product shots, stock imagery, and brand visuals are now able to be brought to life by businesses by seamlessly mixing images with text prompts.

AI Avatars for Presentations

One of the most interesting features in Google Vids is the inclusion of AI avatars, another distinct update. Upon completing this script, you can now choose a virtual avatar and create a professional video presentation with the players not showing up on video. This works great for training, onboarding, demos, internal communication.

Automatic Transcript Trim

Google Vids is also getting an automatic transcript trimming feature to remove filler words and awkward pauses in your recording. This streamlines the pro cess of creating video content with less takes and no edits needed!

Noise Cancellation and Appearance Tools

Like Google Meet, Google Vids now provides noise cancellation, virtual backgrounds, filters, and face enhancements. This new features will make the video look and sound more professional, even when you are in a less than perfect condition.

Multiple Sizing Formats

To easily share this content on all platforms, we’ll add support for portrait, landscape, and square exports in Google Vids. Such flexibility enables creators to tailor videos for YouTube, Instagram, TikTok or corporate channels, according to the announcement.

Vids on Vids Tutorial Series

To assist users in navigating all these features, Google released a new educational series dubbed “Vids on Vids.” Included in the tutorials are videos on planning, recording, AI-inspired storyboarding, animations, transitions, and more. Additional episodes will be included as new features are rolled out for Google Vids.

Growing User Base

Google Vids is being adopted fast, now with over 1 million monthly active users. The tool is now open to Business and Enterprise Starter users, Google AI Pro and Ultra customers, Workspace for Education users working with it, and consumers signing up for a free basic editor (no Gemini AI).

Customer Stories
