HONOR seems to be developing a high-powered smartphone battery-changer with the HONOR Power 2. According to leaks, the handset will have a giant 10,000mAh battery, which would make it one of the biggest-battery phones on the market when it eventually releases, presumably at some point in the first half of 2026.
This would be a step-up from the HONOR Power (read our review here) which was released earlier this April and sports an 8,000mAh battery. Thanks to the adoption of silicon-carbon battery, the HONOR Power was able to achieve a slim body despite having a large cell. We also assume that the HONOR Power 2 will have the same innovation and yet, it will continue to be thin and convenient with a big 10,000mAh battery.
A Battery Breakthrough and the Future of an Electric Life
If a legitimate Chinese brand isn’t working on a device with a 10,000mAh cell, trusted tech tipster Digital Chat Station has not heard of it. The tipster now claims the device is past the EVT stage and has moved onto the NPI (New Product Introduction) phase, indicating that they have begun the final phase to produce the upcoming phone. No brand was confirmed, but rumors in Weibo all obviously believed that this was the HONOR Power 2.
HONOR HONOR is ambitious in the smartphone battery life race, and the HONOR Power 2 is a proof of their assertiveness. With a 10,000mAh battery on board, a couple of days’ use on one charge would be easy, I think.
The Midrange Is Getting High
The HONOR Power 2 is likely to be a mid-range smartphone which would bring larger batteries to a mainstream market. HONOR looks like it wants to keep loading hefty batteries across its portfolio. The report mentions that the company will start using 7,000mAh batteries in flagship phones and 8,000mAh in mid-range offerings.
This move toward power efficiency and longevity was confirmed even more recently when HONOR announced the X70, a device with a gigantic 8,300mAh silicon-carbon battery.
Other Brands Go Big on Batteries
HONOR may be far ahead, but other smartphone brands are doing the same. Recently, OPPO brought the K30 Turbo and K13 Turbo Pro with 7,000mAh battery and 80W rapid charging support. Realme also has a dog in the fight thanks to the Realme 15 Pro with the same specs.
Leaked reports hint that the Redmi Note 15 Pro+ could pack a 7,000mAh battery, the iQOO Z10 might get an 8,000mAh cell. Xiaomi 16 series of next gen might have models featuring 7,000mAh batteries.
However, Samsung and Apple are falling behind in adopting big batteries, and there don’t seem to be any immediate plans on either of their parts that would suggest that this tech will make it onto their next flagships.
HONOR Power 2 downgrading definitely comes as a game changer
If everything we’ve heard so far turns out to be accurate, the HONOR Power 2 could become one of the most significant mid-range phones of the year. Not only does it do so with the largest (about 10,000mAh) battery ever in a phone but also delivers a pragmatic breakthrough with silicon-carbon for the slim and comfortable usage of the phone.
HONOR’s ‘Power’ series of phones looks like it might just turn into a benchmark of sorts for best in-class battery performance. The HONOR Power 2 could challenge what you thought was possible from a phone in terms of endurance – and in fact, how slim it can look while doing so.
