The Minix NUC150 is now official as a new budget-friendly mini PC in the small form factor desktop PC design. Famous for its small footprint and great performance balance, the Minix NUC150 is designed to cater to both general users and professionals who need a compact but powerful setup.
Minix is the first company to release a Minix NUC150, despite Minix’s NUC product line with a 117 x 111 x 36mm compact chassis. And because of this form factor, it is great for tight workspaces, HTPCs and SFF PC buildings. With the Minix NUC150, you get a nice clean looking device, with excellent connectivity and with some very solid internal specifications.

Under the hood, the Minix NUC150 can be equipped with either an Intel N150 or with more power, Intel Core 3 N355 chip. Both CPUs are from Intel’s new Twin Lake family of processors, which promise good performance per watt in a small form factor. The system on the other hand, is rated to work with 16 GB of RAM and 4 TB of PCIe 3.0 storage, so it’s surprisingly expandable given its form factor.
As far as built-in storage goes, the Minix NUC150 appears to come with two M.2 slots:
- 1x M.2 2280 PCIe 3.0×2
- 1x M.2 2242 PCIe 3.0×1
That means that even users can install fast NVMe SSDs, like the Corsair MP600 Micro (1 TB version is currently discounted to $94.99 at Amazon) to ensure the Minix NUC150 has plenty of room for the OS as well as high performance applications.
The Minix NUC150 is great for connections too. It has a nice range of ports, including:
- 3x USB 3.2 Type-A
- 1x USB 2.0 Type-A
- 2x USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C (one with DP 1.4 and PD support)
- 2x HDMI
- 1x RJ45 Ethernet
- 1x 3.5 mm audio jack
In terms of wireless capabilities, the Minix NUC150 enables WiFi 6 connectivity and the latest in Bluetooth 5.2 – so you know that you’re able to connect quickly for work, streaming, or gaming.
The Minix NUC150 is available from $279, though I suspect that’s the price for the Intel N150 model. The Intel Core 3 N355 variant may however be available at a slightly premium price. Minix has not revealed the exact launch date, but they already confirmed that the mini PC will hit the shelves very soon on their official website.
Due to its ‘just right’ mix of performance, variety of ports and a hectic shrinking talent, the Minix NUC150 offers to be quite a powerhouse in the mini PC space.
