Recently, Oppo announced that its next-generation foldable device, the Find N5—which will be released later this year as the OnePlus Open 2—will soon make its debut in both China and worldwide.
We now have the precise launch date: Oppo will officially unveil the Find N5 on February 20. The company has also shared a teaser video in anticipation of the event.
The video highlights the foldable’s sleek and slim design, and confirms that the phone will incorporate Google’s Gemini, likely powering its AI features.
Therefore, next week, the world’s thinnest foldable phone will be introduced.
This will be the first instance of Oppo launching one of its foldables globally at the same time.
While it is unlikely to be released under the Oppo brand in the US, it may eventually be available as the OnePlus Open 2.
The upcoming Oppo Find N5, also known as the OnePlus Open 2, is set to be exceptionally slim, measuring less than 4mm when unfolded.
Oppo has emphasized that it is thinner than the iPad Pro M4 (2024), which is 5.1mm thick, and considerably thinner than an iPhone. In fact, its thickness is comparable to that of a USB-C port. Despite its ultra-slim design, this foldable is expected to deliver substantial power.
Reports suggest it will feature a 5900 mAh battery, a notable increase from the 4800 mAh found in the Find N3 and the first OnePlus Open.
Additionally, a significant enhancement is that wireless charging will be introduced in the OnePlus Open 2, supporting 50W fast wireless charging. For context, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Pixel 9 Pro Fold are limited to 15W and 7.5W wireless charging, respectively.
Therefore, not only will the OnePlus Open 2 be the thinnest foldable available in the US, but it will also surpass competitors in charging speed. Internally, the Find N5 is anticipated to be powered by the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite chip.
Camera-wise, it is expected to receive a notable upgrade, featuring a telephoto macro capability that is uncommon in other flagship smartphones. The rear camera setup is likely to include a triple array of 50 MP sensors, while the front cameras are expected to remain at 32 MP and 20 MP.
Furthermore, the Find N5 is reportedly set to receive both IPX8 and IPX9 ratings, making it the first foldable capable of withstanding high-pressure, high-temperature water jets. This represents a significant advancement in durability for foldable devices! Stay tuned for more updates, as the launch is just around the corner.
