PC gaming hardware market ready to explode in 2025, says JPR Thanks to Jon Peddie Research we can now see that the PC gaming hardware market will hit a record 35% growth over five years. This would bring in up to $44.5B sales of PC gaming hardware myself alone, expand to over 40 billion through the next 9 years or so. The study is based on the analysis of PC Gaming Hardware sales, which includes desktops/ notebooks and related peripheral components, AIBs etc.

The primary factor dragging PC gaming hardware sales upwards is none other than Windows 11, which has ushered in a fresh set of hardware requirements that gamers will have to fulfill should they wish to run the new OS – either by upgrading their current systems with some new PC gaming hardware or getting a new one altogether.

It’s not just Windows 11, it’s also the new generation of AAA gaming experiences driving gamers to invest in new PC gaming hardware.

But as we’ve been seeing with the Unreal Engine 5-derived samples, there’s huge incentive to invest in modern PC gaming hardware, and this includes newer GPU technology – especially cards featuring new upscaling and frame-gen techniques. These assist the users to settle down in non-optimized games. Moreover 8 GB GPUS are near end of life, with CPUs like AMD’s 3D V-Cache here and now, gamers will be more inclined to buy those newer 8core+ chips -> makeing this a whole platform upgrade. This requirement is one of the prime movers in the total PC gaming hardware space.

There’s never been anything like this in the history of Microsoft Windows operating systems. Related: This is not an issue that can be fixed with a graphics card swap. “It is necessary to upgrade the CPU and that’s over 100 million gamers who need to agree to go ahead and upgrade, which means a new motherboard, probably new RAM as well,” Ted Pollak, JPR’s senior analyst of game tech commented. No wonder; this forced upgrading cycle is literally forcing people into a boom in gaming-PC hardware sales.

What we see is that the vast majority of PC gamers are just purchasing new prebuilt systems. The DIY gamers are also ready for this shift, and many of them have already been constructing new PCs alongside their Windows 10 rigs all along instead of attempting to Frankenstein their current units. That way, they can keep using their PC even after their Windows 11 builds are ready to go.

The report also adds that the low-end PC gaming hardware market is going to decline 13% in the next five years. The logic goes about 10 million gamers will leave the PC ecosystem for consoles/handhelds/mobile and from a cost perspective that would make sense. (wccftech) But good luck, arguing that a lot of globe’s entry-level PC gamers will remain on the PC platform but upgrade to slightly more advanced levels of PC gaming hardware like mid-tier or upper-end. This is great news for the PC gaming hardware business.

That’s pretty much the pattern amongst the PC-gaming hardware market where you would expect lower brackets to quickly transition in 2-4 years to better or just higher tier-ed hardware. The entry level is large in sales volume, but not big in terms of money. With higher end PC gaming hardware comanies can make more margin and revenue, so I would imagine the channel for PC gaming hardware will stay very robust for years to come.

This still-lively market for PC gaming hardware is a testament to the enduring appeal of the platform. The desire for even more powerful and modern PC gaming hardware is high – and isn’t likely to go away, which means that the future of PC hardware is definitely a bright one.
