It looks like Google is set to announce the long-awaited Pixel Wireless Charger at the event next week. This would be a significant step forward for Google’s hardware lineup, and something that could challenge Apple’s MagSafe charging experience.
According to that tip shared by the infamous Arsene Lupin on X, the Pixel Wireless Charger is coming… and it’s coming alongside another product called the “Google Pixel Charger” in Rock Candy (white). The Rock Candy edition might not grab headlines, but the Pixel Wireless Charger is causing a stir.
From what’s been revealed so far, the Pixel Wireless Charger sounds like a puck-style magnetic charger (much like Apple’s MagSafe). This form factor would not only create a sexy and efficient wireless charging experience, but also magnetize to compatible Pixel 10 cases. That would be particularly possible if the all New Pixel 10 series does feature Qi2 wireless charging and magnetic alignment, though it might very well require some kind of case for that magnetic support.
Just to make things clear, this new charger is not to be mistaken for the current Pixel Stand. Pixel Wireless Charger and the Pixel Stand are not the same thing. It’s all about the portability and the magnetic connection for this new charger, which represents Google’s first real attempt at embracing MagSafe-style charging on Android.
And it won’t be just smartphones and charging accessories at the launch event, either. In addition to this, the Pixel Buds 2a will also make an appearance alongside the Pixel 10 series launch, the same report claimed. These upcoming affordable earbuds should come in four pleasant colours: Hazel, Fog Light, Iris, and Strawberry.
Similar to the original Pixel Buds A (among the best wireless earbuds on the market right now), which became popular because they are comfortable, capable and affordable, the Pixel Buds 2a appear to be ready to follow in its footsteps. They’re likely to offer decent sound quality and a fair price for Google Assistant integration.
The grand launch of the Pixel 10 lineup – which consists of four Pixel phones, the Pixel Wireless Charger, and Pixel Buds 2a – is also expected to happen on August 20th, matching the month when the Pixel 9 series was announced back in 2018.
Google may finally be starting to connect its hardware with a seamless ecosystem now that an AirPower-like Pixel Wireless Charger has appeared, giving users something like Apple’s well-integrated accessories. Whether this is going to be Google’s MagSafe moment or not, however, remains to be seen — but it’s obvious that Android users will soon have a new option for wirelessly powering up their devices.
