Netflix has recently announced another price increase, raising subscription fees by up to $2.50 per month. If you are a T-Mobile customer who receives Netflix as part of your plan, you may be wondering if this will affect your bill.
The answer is that it could. A recent report based on a leaked memo provides some clarity on the matter, and the news isn’t entirely positive. T-Mobile will cover the cost increase for customers on the ad-supported Netflix plan, meaning they won’t see a rise in their bill.
However, if you have upgraded to a Standard or Premium Netflix plan and are paying the additional amount, you will unfortunately experience the price hike.
According to the leaked memo, T-Mobile is raising its subsidy for the ad-supported Netflix plan to $7.99 in order to align with the new pricing. For those on Standard or Premium plans, T-Mobile will continue to offer a $6.99 monthly discount, but the remainder will be your responsibility.
This means that if you are subscribed to the Standard ad-free plan, your monthly cost will increase from $8.50 to $11. Premium subscribers will also see a rise in their monthly fees, from $16 to $18. T-Mobile plans to notify Netflix subscribers about these changes via text messages next week.
It’s not surprising that T-Mobile is raising its prices after Netflix increased its subscription rates. However, let’s be honest—it’s quite frustrating. Price hikes for subscriptions have become a common trend, with nearly every streaming service joining in.
On top of that, they are also tightening restrictions on password sharing. Netflix initiated this change, followed by Hulu, Disney+, and Max. Now, we can only wait to see if other services will mimic Netflix’s recent decision.
Here are Netflix’s plans after the latest price hike:
- Standard plan with ads: $7.99 (increased from $6.99).
- Standard plan without ads: $17.99 (increased from $15.49).
- Premium plan with 4K video quality: $24.99 (increased from $22.99).
