TECNO is in the news again and for a very bold reason with the eyes popping of its new TECNO Phantom Ultimate G Fold, a tri-fold concept smartphone that looks like what’s designed to go head to head Samsung’s rumoured Galaxy G Fold. The new gadget was teased just a few days before Samsung’s highly-anticipated Galaxy Unpacked event, when the firm is expected to debut its initial tri-fold smartphone.
In March 2025, TECNO teased the Phantom Ultimate 2 as the grenn on the ground during its MWC 2025 showing. That model featured a futuristic dual-folding display, with one inward and one outward fold. Now the TECNO Phantom Ultimate G Fold has embraced the concept even more with a full inward folding design, which may help prevent damage to the screen and mechanism.
Although TECNO has not officially published press photos, credible leaker PhoneArt (@UniverseIce) has provided the world first hands-on photos of the TECNO Phantom Ultimate G Fold. Sleeker body than old type, matte silver frame and white backIt has a slim design the customer like, compared to the old type.
The overall appearance is closely inspired by Google’s Pixel 9 lineup, specifically the Pixel 9 Pro Fold. As of now, Huawei is the only company selling a foldable with a tri-fold mechanism, albeit only in select markets. With TECNO and Samsung both interested in this segment, the space for tri-fold phones could become quite interesting(c) sooner than later.
With premium build quality and improved folding mechanism, Pixel-like design, the TECNO Phantom Ultimate G Fold is proof that TECNO has been stretching their legs in the foldable phone space.
Regardless of whether TECNO ends up selling this phone, it has already done something remarkable it has sparked buzz and positioned itself within the conversation around Samsung, Huawei and Google.
