It seems that Vivo is planning to launch a new handset in one of its successful series, the T4 series bringing us the Vivo T4R. It will be the fifth phone in the T4 brood following the Vivo T4, T4x, T4 Lite and T4 Ultra. The USP of Vivo T4R is that it is going to be the debutant in Vivo’s all new ‘R’ sub-series.
Vivo T4R priceThe Vivo T4R, will be priced between ₹15,000 and ₹20,000, 91mobiles Hindi has reported in collaboration with Twitter-based tipster Sudhanshu Ambhore. This squarely places it in the middle of the mid-range season, overtaking the regular T4 in price, and the T4 Lite in terms of power.
What adds more grunt to the Vivo T4R, is the IP68 and IP69 ratings for water- and dust-resistance — a first for Vivo in this price-point. These are the best protection ratings for a smartphone, so the T4R should be able to withstand dust, high-pressure water jets and extreme conditions, something that’s rare in the sub-₹20,000 segment.
The Vivo T4R, is believed to be equipped with the MediaTek Dimensity 7400 chipset, a chip we’ve seen on devices such as the Realme Narzo 80 Pro and the Motorola Edge 60 Fusion. This mid-tier chip, which runs at up to 2.6GHz, provides decent gaming, multitasking and 5G connectivity. Pricewise, the Vivo T4R, will have to cope with the competition as well, but if it does end up packing this chipset, it would probably bring a very good price/performance ratio.
Design-wise, there is not much known, though, Vivo has always made sure each of its T4 models have something unique. The Vivo T4R, will have its own design identity so it doesn’t get mixed up with the rest of the line-up. Considering Vivo made each of the T4 series differently, we expect the same as well for the Vivo T4R.
The reason for pricing the Vivo T4R, is so that Vivo can target all of the key price segments in the Indian smartphone market. The T4 Lite is the entry-level option priced from ₹9,999 while the T4x, is the next higher at ₹13,999, followed by the regular T4 at ₹21,999 and the T4 Ultra at ₹37,999. The Vivo T4R, is aimed at the ₹15,000–₹20,000 segment, in the sweet spot between budget and premium mid-range segment.
As of now, Vivo has not yet teased the Vivo T4R, and there is no confirmed launch date. But if the leak is to be believed, then the launch seems to be closeby. The Vivo T4R, could give serious competition to the mid-range smartphone in India with its attractive specs and price point.
For now, we’ll just have to wait until Vivo shares more details on the Vivo T4R, including its design, launch date, and the complete spec sheet. But in terms of what we know so far, it appears that Vivo is all set to bring another powerful option in the affordable category with the Vivo T4R.
