Xiaomi’s 15 Ultra is due for a cool and practical redesign that will please smartphone photography enthusiasts. The June refresh has brought with it not only some bold new colorways, but a redesigned camera grip – a move that fits in perfectly with the phone’s Leica partnership and emphasis on pro-level photography experiences.
Originally offered only in black, white and silver, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra now comes in three eye-catching colors: purple, aquamarine and brown. The new models keep the much-loved two-tone design — a vegan leather back with a smooth silver strip. The result? A design that’s reminiscent of old-school cameras and Xiaomi’s design prowess.
Complementing the new colors is a totally redesigned camera grip, a component of the revamped “Fashion Photography Kit.” The new grip that has a weight of only 42 grams, is lighter and less cumbersome compared to the first accessory.
It does not come with an integrated battery, but it contains all the features professional photographers will want, including a dedicated shutter button that can half-press for quick focus or exposure lock, a video button when not in photo mode and Fastshot mode to snap a shot as soon as you tap the shutter. This redesigned grip makes the Xiaomi 15 Ultra feel more like a traditional camera in-hand than ever.

The phone is a powerhouse on the inside. The Xiaomi 15 Ultra has a 6.73-inch 2K LTPO AMOLED display, powered by the newest Snapdragon 8 Elite chip. And for power users, there’s a 5,410mAh (global, 6,000mAh for the Chinese market) battery, 90W wired and 80W wireless fast charging.
What this device does best however, is its camera. The 15 Ultra has a 50MP 1-inch main LYT-900 sensor, 50MP ultrawide camera, 50MP 3x telephoto camera, and a megapixel-crushing 200MP pure periscope camera that’s equivalent to a 4.3x zoom lens. It’s a flagship camera system that can safely replace a DSLR or mirrorless for the majority of shooting situations.
Pricing information for the refreshed Xiaomi 15 Ultra editions has not been confirmed yet at the global level. But reports have many speculating that the Photography Kit will cost ₹13,900 (about $165) in India, offering photography enthusiasts an affordable pro-grade upgrade.
This new update demonstrates Xiaomi’s continued dedication to harmonizing high-quality performance with true photographic flexibility. The Xiaomi 15 Ultra’s new design and sophisticated ergonomics are set to appeal creators and camera lovers. Whether that’s enough to persuade users to abandon traditional cameras is a question only time — and some truly great photos — will tell.
