Xiaomi has introduced the Xiaomi Outdoor Camera 4, a next-gen AI security camera created to improve outdoor security and put more control in the hands of users when it comes to their own data. The company that’s best known for its robust smart home ecosystem is adding to the lineup with a camera that has one major advantage over the competition — it doesn’t “require” mandatory cloud integration.
The Xiaomi Outdoor Camera 4 is also the first 4K model in Xiaomi that comes with a high-resolution of 3,840 x 2,160 pixels through a single image sensor and an f/1.6 lens. This AI security camera delivers superb image quality and wide dynamic range which is perfect for day or night use. Depending on lighting conditions, the Xiaomi Outdoor Camera 4 is able to take full-colour photos, even at night.
If it is dark out and there is no external light, the camera automatically switches to use its built-in regular LEDs or infrared LEDs, depending on the camera model and night vision distance. So, overall, if you want something that will give you the most reliable and high quality nighttime footage, the Xiaomi Outdoor Camera 4 is your best bet.

A big part of the appeal of the Xiaomi Outdoor Camera 4 is the fact that it doesn’t trap users in cloud-based storage. Unlike some of the competitor AI security cameras, Xioami offers to allow the user to store the footage locally, either on a memory card or network-attached storage. Transmission via Wi-Fi or Ethernet guarantees a stable connection. The addition of an Ethernet jack offers one more layer of reliability you don’t typically find in consumer-grade 4K outdoor cameras.

While it isn’t completely wire-free — so it has no built-in battery and no solar charging — the device is designed for long-term reliability and the best performance. The Outdoor Camera 4 is rated IP66, so it is both dust-tight and protected from water jets, ensuring it is robust enough to be installed outside.
Xiaomi also added two-way audio, so hosts can speak to people close to the camera. This along with AI motion detection also helps for another layer of interaction and safety.
The 4 model of the Xiaomi Outdoor Camera comes at a price of CN¥389, roughly US$54, and is currently only available in China, adding to the company’s growing list of smart home and surveillance products such as the C200. The company will launch this product as always in its home market in China and after that, it will make available in the other markets.
The move is a continuation of Xiaomi’s aspiration to dominate in the AI-powered smart home device market. The Xiaomi Outdoor Camera 4 is a useful-for-some option for users of the Xiaomi smart home ecosystem, especially those in search of a 4K outdoor camera that doesn’t have any forced cloud subscription.
Although international pricing and availability moment is unknown, this new AI security camera is already making a buzz because of its powerful specifications and offline storage features.
