Nothing Phone 3 Confirmed With 50MP Periscope Zoom, July 1 Launch Set

Nothing Phone 3 is all set to hit the smartphone market on July 1, and the hype is getting created as the company is releasing new teasers. The most interesting confirmation so far is that the Nothing Phone 3 will adopt a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto camera, a significant change over its predecessor.

In a recent post on X (formerly Twitter), Nothing shared that the Nothing Phone 3 will be equipped with a sizable 50MP periscope telephoto sensor with the ability to deliver up to 3x optical zoom. The teaser image shows a sneak peak of the camera housing, and it features clean lines with visible screws and a new sensor array that looks to continue pushing that high-end design language.

The Nothing Phone 3 is tipped to launch with a triple camera arrangement at the back. Leaks indicate this will comprise a 50MP primary sensor, 50MP ultra-wide shooter and the just-confirmed new 50MP periscope telephoto sensor. That’s a major step up over the dual-camera set-up in the Nothing Phone 2, which pushes the Nothing Phone 3 even more into high-end territory.

Interestingly, that camera arrangement matches the previously leaked specs of the Nothing Phone 3a Pro, which was rumored to have a 50MP main camera, a 50MP periscope lens, and an 8MP ultrawide camera, too. However, alongside the Nothing Phone 3, the ultra-wide lens is said to be 50MP instead, aligning the entire rear camera system to function in high resolution.

The front camera of the Nothing Phone 3 is also tipped to be significantly improved. It is also rumored to come with a 50-megapixel selfie shooter, which will make it one of the very few smartphones with 50MP sensors on both sides.

Under the hood, however, the Nothing Phone 3 is confirmed to run the recently unveiled Snapdragon 8s Gen 1 SoC creating a flagship performance. Powering the device is a 5,150mAh battery, which is also compatible with 100W wired fast charging, as well as wireless and reverse wireless charging.

The screen on the Nothing Phone 3 is another highlight. It’s rumoured to have a 6.7-inch LTPO OLED display with a 1.5K resolution, delivering smoother refresh rates and improved power efficiency.

Making the Nothing Phone 3 even more attractive is Nothing’s promise for long-term software support. The company has also promised that the Nothing Phone 3 will get at least five years of Android OS updates and at least seven years of security patches, providing the comfort that this phone will be secure and updated long after the typical Android support cycle has run its course.

The Nothing Phone 3 will come out in the open on July 1, also announcing date for the long-rumored Nothing Headphone 1. Equipped with flagship-level specs, a tripe rear camera, and long-term software support, this one is turning out to be a solid player in the high-end Android space.
