India’s Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has shared teaser of the upcoming BSNL flash sale. Shared via its social media account, the government-owned telco promises something big, leaving people guessing on the other end. As per the teaser posted, the BSNL flash sale is likely to offer free data, broadband deals, discounts.
Reuters In a teaser post on X (previously known as Twitter), BSNL wrote, “Something big is coming. Are you ready for the OMG?” The telecom operator, however, is yet to announce the official date and time for the commencement of the BSNL flash sale, except for the promise of big benefits. The brand is urging consumers to predict the deals, promising “so many surprises.”
The BSNL flash sale comes in a period of struggle for the telco to keep its user base. According to new telecom subscriber number provided by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), BSNL lost over 200,000 overall subscribers in April. Far more troubling was the drop in active subscribers, which plummeted by 1.8 million over the same period.
To beat this trend, BSNL is responding aggressively. Earlier this week, it launched its 5G service in India, which is aptly called Q-5G (Quantum 5G), to reflect the super-fast, super power and futuristic outreach of BSNL network. The launch of Q-5G is a big part of BSNL’s plans to return to competition and regain lost ground to the private telecom giants — Jio, Airtel and Vodafone Idea.
BSNL has also started offering doorstep delivery of prepaid and postpaid SIM cards. Now customers can order new SIM cards or port in their existing number from the comfort of their homes through this new outlet. Seanergy claims to have developed this service to deliver SIM card over post and the consumer needs to fill a customer registration form as part of Self-KYC. After that the SIM card is sent to user’s home. Users can call BSNL’s helpline (1800-180-1503) if they have any queries.
The much awaited BSNL flash sale likely to stoke customer interest and perhaps even reversal of recent loses. With exciting stuff such as free data, free SMS and doorstep SIM services, BSNL is trying to bring back its lost glory and give some competition to the industry.
Even as end users are waiting for the BSNL flash sale official sale date, the marketing for the flash sale itself has created a lot of curiosity and social media buzz. Only time will tell if the offers are as good as the hype, however, one thing is for sure — BSNL flash sale may well be the game-changer for the telco.
