No one expected the iPhone 17 rumors to spread so quickly.
According to leaker Majin Buu, who has a history of contradictions, the fourth model in the iPhone 17 lineup, which will almost certainly include a standard model and two models, will be a phone codenamed “Rome.”
Reports indicate that Apple is planning to replace the iPhone 16 Plus with a sleeker model tentatively named the iPhone 17 Air or Slim.
At the same time, Apple is also developing a successor to the iPhone SE 3, which is expected to launch in the first half of the year. Recent speculation suggests that this new phone might be called the iPhone 16E.
According to Majin Bu, the rumored fourth-generation iPhone SE and the purported iPhone 17 Air are actually the same device, referred to internally as “Roma.” It may be released under the names iPhone SE 4, iPhone 16E, iPhone 16SE, or iPhone 17 Air.
Historically, SE models have utilized specs from previous generations, and the iPhone SE 4 is rumored to feature the A18 chip from the iPhone 16. In contrast, the iPhone 17 Air is expected to incorporate more up-to-date specifications, including Apple’s next-generation A19 chip.
Despite both devices likely having a single rear camera, this similarity doesn’t seem too far-fetched. However, that might be the extent of their similarities.
Additionally, Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman, regarded as a reliable source, anticipates that the iPhone SE 4 will be announced by April this year, while the iPhone 17 series is expected to be unveiled in September.
Furthermore, SE models are generally aimed at budget-conscious consumers, whereas the flagship series targets the premium market.
Recent reports suggest that the iPhone 17 Air may be priced around $800, while the iPhone SE 4 is expected to be under $500. Although Majin Bu has a track record of accurate claims, this particular assertion seems somewhat difficult to believe.
